I have worked in the Emergency Management (EM) field for over 20 years.  I have worked at all levels of EM,  from working at the state/local/county offices to supporting DoD and Federal agencies.  My work experiences includes both support for agencies during natural hazards (Midwest floods, East coast hurricanes, etc.),  National Special Security Events (NSSE) such Presidential Inaugurations, Superbowls, 2015 Papal visit, etc.  I have also supported agencies during larger real world events such as Operation Tomodachi (2011 Japanese earthquake/tsunami), and Y2K support provided to USDA (spend the turn of the century in the basement of USDA in Washington, DC).

In my experience, finding the right individual to work in the Emergency Management field, requires a person who not only understands SOPs (standard operating procedures) and checklists, NIMS (National Incident Management System) and the academics of Emergency Management procedures and policy, but must also be a problem solver.  The combination of both traits make the ideal individual to work in the EM field.

In January 2007, I created a Emergency Management Yahoo Group, The purpose of the group is to advertise Emergency Management (EM) Employment Opportunities, over the years I have subscribed to various job boards and receive EM employment opportunities from various sources, I post to the Emergency Management Yahoo Group. I am one of two moderators (Steve Davis, 2nd contributor), if you wish to get more info on the Emergency Management Yahoo Group resource, you can email me at jmsaleh@1stresponders.com or subscribe to EM Employment Opportunities, to receive via email job opportunities you can subscribe by sending an email to emergencymanagementjobs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

The Emergency Management Yahoo Group is a restricted/moderated group, so subscribers will have to request access, when requesting access, you will have to write a sentence about why you are interested in this group.

I have established a new website to serve as a resource for those seeking employment in the EM field
